Nobody Can Stop CAA Implementation: Amit Shah's Assurance At Kolkata Rally

As of today, June 3, 2025, there are no publicly announced public rallies scheduled for Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah in West Bengal. His most recent visit to the state occurred on June 1, 2025, during which he held closed-door meetings with top BJP leaders in Kolkata to strategize for the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections. Addressing the contentious issue of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), he stated that although Mamata Banerjee has been opposing it, no one can stop its implementation. The law remains in limbo, however, as the central government has yet to frame its rules amid strong opposition."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing a massive rally in Kolkata today, declared that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) will be implemented and "no one can stop it."

Speaking at the event to kick off the BJP's Lok Sabha election campaign in West Bengal, Mr. Shah launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of indulging in appeasement politics, failing to curb infiltration, fostering corruption, and allowing political violence to persist.

He urged the people of West Bengal to reject the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the next state assembly elections and vote the BJP to power instead.

Praising the massive turnout at the rally, Shah claimed it reflected the public sentiment and expressed confidence that the BJP would secure a two-thirds majority in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.

He further asserted that the BJP’s performance in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections would lay the groundwork for its victory in the 2026 state polls.

Kolkata:
Turning to the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), Union Home Minister Amit Shah reaffirmed today that the central government is committed to its implementation despite strong opposition. He criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her continued resistance to the law, asserting that “no one can stop its implementation.”

Speaking at a massive rally at the historic Esplanade in Kolkata — aimed at setting the stage for the BJP’s Lok Sabha campaign in the state — Mr. Shah addressed concerns around the CAA’s current status. He acknowledged that the Act has been in limbo due to the pending formulation of its rules but stressed that the central government remains steadfast in its resolve.

Referring to the intended beneficiaries of the CAA, Mr. Shah said, “They have as much a right to Indian citizenship as anyone else,” emphasizing the government’s moral and constitutional commitment to provide refuge to persecuted minorities from neighboring countries.

Highlighting the party’s past performance, Mr. Shah reminded the crowd that the BJP had secured 18 out of West Bengal’s 42 Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 general elections — its best-ever showing in the state — and expressed confidence that the upcoming election would mark a decisive step toward ousting the TMC in the 2026 assembly elections.
